Continuity Expected as CFPB Names New Enforcement Head

Nov 8, 2017News

Beginning November 17th, long-time Deputy Enforcement Director for Strategy and Policy Kristen Donoghue will assume a promotion to the Assistant Director of Enforcement for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Donoghue has worked in the agency’s enforcement division since its inception in 2011.

CFPB Director Richard Cordray had this to say about Donoghue: “Kristen is a proven leader who has demonstrated her integrity, deep knowledge of financial services and consumer protection, and commitment to public service. I am grateful she has accepted this new role.”

Donoghue will take over the position from another enforcement attorney at the CFPB, Anthony Alexis. The internal promotion of one of the agency’s veteran enforcement attorneys signals a likely continuation of the Bureau’s enforcement strategy.
