Sep 7, 2017News

On Tuesday September 5, 2017, NAFSA successfully filed with the United States Supreme Court an Amicus Brief in support of the petition for certiorari in case no. 17-184, Great Plains Lending, LLC, and Plain Green, LLC v. Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.

Below is the Amicus Brief as it was formally filed. Our objective was to highlight for the Justices of the United States Supreme Court the positive impact the Tribal online lending industry is having on Indian Country, and to further inform the Court of the many barriers Tribes must overcome in order to build their economies

Filing this brief was another positive milestone in NAFSA’s efforts to advocate for tribal economic self-determination and sustainability.
